Continually, Our Eyes Look to the LORD Our God (Psalm 123)

To You, I lift up my eyes, O You who are enthroned in the heavens.

If 2023 has welcomed new trials and storms, join me to take a step on the Rock, the foundation of hope, and think on a good theme:

God is all He said He is in His Word. We can stand on His Rock of truth.

Jesus told us ahead of time, in His Word, there would be trouble:

These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world” John 16:33, NKJV.

Have I “built my house on the foundation of the Lord?” I can’t hide anything from God, Creator of heaven and earth, the seas, and all that is in them. He knows everything. He told us this story:

Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.

  The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock” Matthew 7:24,25.  

“Yes, Lord! By faith, I’ve built my house on You, the Rock, the salvation of our souls.

My eyes, our eyes are on You, the Lord:

Behold, as the eyes of servants look to the hand of their master, as the eyes of a maidservant to the hand of her mistress, so our eyes look to the LORD our God, till he has mercy upon us.

Have mercy upon us, O LORD, have mercy upon us, for we have had more than enough of contempt.

Our soul has had more than enough of the scorn of those who are at ease, of the contempt of the proud” Psalm 123.

Why should I feel discouraged
Why should the shadows come
Why should my heart feel lonely
And long for heaven and home
When Jesus is my portion
A constant friend is He
His eye is on the sparrow
And I know He watches over me

The foundation of God is the love of Christ who paid all my debt of sin, as He willingly died on the cross for me. He rose to victory for me. For you. For all who would believe.

Let’s not feel discouraged. Because “Jesus is my portion, a constant friend is He. His eye is on this sparrow.”

Let’s pray together,

Dear Lord, we seek You. Help us believe You and Your Word. Heal our unbelief. We cry “Mercy Lord.”

Heal.

Renew.

Restore.

We walk with expectant eyes to see Your glory and power at work.

Our ears are open to hear Your Word above our fear and unknown future.

Keep us, Lord, growing in Your grace and understanding of all You are. Help us

” meditates day and night” in Your law. That we might be “like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper . . .” Psalm 1:1,2,3.

For the Lord knows the way of the righteous, But the way of the ungodly shall perish Psalm 1:6.

Oh, dear God, You are the Rock in which we stand. You alone are our hope and defense.

I cry out for a miracle of healing.

Together we cast our heavy burdens of care on You. Many of us cry out for “grace to help in our time of need” (Hebrews 4:16).

Help us receive Your grace towards each of us, as we “all have sinned,”(Romans 3:23), yet, Your Word tells us, “the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:23).

Give us an understanding of Your merciful loving-kindness, unearned, yet received by faith in Your Son, Jesus.

We receive from You today, Your love and healing. We are new in You and through You.

“Nothing is impossible,” in You, (Luke 1:37).

and “All things are possible through You,” (Matthew 19:26).

I believe.

We believe.

Together, we praise and pray,

In Jesus’ name, amen.”

“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen” Ephesians 3:20,21, NKJV.
